Session Cottage
A seasonal window into cottage life
Preserved and cared for by our volunteers, the Session Cottage shows how families in the district once lived, cooked and worked.
What is the Session Cottage?
The Session Cottage is one of our best-loved exhibits: a preserved cottage interior furnished as it would have been used by a local family, complete with period furniture, kitchen implements and everyday objects. It gives visitors of all ages a tangible sense of domestic life in Turriff and district in years gone by.
Because the cottage and its garden need extra care and volunteer staffing, it opens to visitors on a seasonal basis rather than all year round.

Seasonal opening — placeholder
The Session Cottage typically opens for a limited season each year, alongside selected Heritage Hub events. Exact dates depend entirely on volunteer availability and change year to year, so please call us or check our Facebook page to confirm whether the cottage is currently open before visiting.
Opening hours — placeholder
As a volunteer-run Society, our opening hours vary by season and volunteer availability and are not fixed year-round. Please call us or check our Facebook page for the current opening times before you travel.
